Arsenal's goalkeeper Backs Team's Strength as Key to Multiple Trophy Pursuit

David Raya has declared that fierce rivalry for first-team spots is fueling Arsenal's outstanding performance, with the keeper believing that the team's roster under Mikel Arteta is so extraordinary that they can compete for several trophies this season.

Dominant Victories Highlight Arsenal's Prowess

Arsenal's latest comprehensive win over Atlético Madrid represented their six consecutive wins and tenth triumph in 12 matches. With only three goals conceded—a record low at this stage in the club's history—Arsenal have secured a one-point lead at the Premier League summit and a perfect record in the Champions League after three outings.

Squad Changes and Depth Crucial to Achievements

The goalkeeper has featured in almost all matches, aside from one domestic cup fixture, but Arteta has consistently rotated the team following significant summer investment on new signings. When asked about chasing multiple trophies, he said, "Yes, I think so. Our squad strength is amazing. There are many players who can perform in multiple positions."

For instance, against Atlético, Mikel Merino came on as a forward and can also play as a No 8 or No 10. Such flexibility is what the boss has, and it's being utilized to our advantage. It's looking extremely promising, and this roster strength is crucial for us.

Competition Drives Standards

The Spain international added, "That gives you an extra level in practice and games because if you're not at it, your place is at risk in a fraction of a second. That fosters healthy competitiveness in training and on the pitch, which is vitally significant, and everyone is on board."

Defensive Solidity a Collective Effort

Arsenal have let in just a single goal from open play this season, and Raya has faced a mere one attempt in their recent victories against Atlético, Fulham, and West Ham.

"It's a collective effort from the forwards to the goalie," Raya explained. "Everyone is focused, determined not to give anything away, and the goal is to cut out the ball before it reaches the midfield. By winning it back, we can launch a quick counter. This is essential for the entire team to understand that way, and we're not allowing numerous opportunities, which is perfect."
