People have come together across the country to mark 24 months since the Hamas-led attack on that fateful day in October 2023, as negotiations proceeded in the neighboring country over a resolution to the conflict in the Gaza Strip.

The assault led to in excess of 1,200 people losing their lives and 251 others taken away to Gaza as captives. It was the uniquely most lethal day for Jews since the Holocaust.

Israel reacted by launching a defensive operation in Gaza which has taken in excess of 67,000 people, according to the area's Hamas-administered health ministry. Its statistics are seen as reliable by the UN and other global organizations.

"The aggressive enemies have caused great damage, but they have not defeated us," the leader added on Tuesday.

He also pledged to "accomplish all the goals of the war: the return of all the kidnapped, the elimination of the Hamas government and the assurance that Gaza will not present a danger to Israel".

Commemorative Ceremonies Across Israel

The government authorities rescheduled official memorials until 16 October - after the conclusion of the Jewish High Holiday season - but ceremonies still took place throughout the country on Tuesday.

A memorial ceremony for the families of people who died in the Hamas attack was conducted in the coastal city. Organized by the affected families, it was televised throughout Israeli TV networks.

Some time earlier, a minute's silence was observed across the country.

Negotiation Talks in Egypt

At the same time, the conflicting parties' negotiating teams convened in the Egyptian coastal city of Sharm el-Sheikh for a continuing round of indirect talks to discuss the provisions of the plan.

A senior Palestinian official familiar with the negotiations revealed that an late session of mediated discussions began at 7 PM local time.

The representative explained the day's discussions concluded without concrete outcomes, due to disagreements over the suggested Israeli withdrawal maps from Gaza and over guarantees Hamas demands to guarantee Israel does not resume fighting after the opening period of the deal.

He commented that the discussions are "difficult and have still not produce any major advancement," but noted that mediators are making efforts to close the disparities between the both parties.

Key Issues in Talks

  • A lasting halt to fighting
  • The trade of the captives still detained by Hamas for inmates from Gaza
  • The pullout of troops from Gaza
  • Plans for assistance distribution
  • After-conflict governance of the territory

Civilian Sentiment

In the city's public square earlier, 29-year-old a woman - whose brother lived through the incident on the Nova music festival, where hundreds were murdered and many more were taken hostage by Hamas gunmen - told: "No place seems like home anymore and until all the hostages come back no one will be secure."

"After we see all home returned, we can breathe again. Then we can commence heal," she concluded.

In front of the leader's official dwelling in Jerusalem, people congregated to show their backing for the families of the abducted. Israel reports nearly fifty remain in detention in Gaza, approximately twenty of whom are thought to be surviving.

Activist a participant stated: "It's necessary do any agreement needed for the abducted to return. But we truly desire assurances that we will be protected."

Research now frequently demonstrate that about seventy percent of the population want the war to finish in exchange for the liberation of the hostages.

Gaza Conditions

At the site of the music event, those paying respects came together to honor the dead.

From that location, the sound of aerial bombardments and shelling could be noticed just a short distance away in Gaza, where local people said the intense Israeli attacks carried on.

In the main city, attacks were documented in the early hours of Tuesday in the western district, sector and Nasr neighbourhoods and in the eastern neighbourhood of Sheikh Radwan, as well Shati refugee camp to the northwestern area.

"As the evening falls, the anxiety appears with it," displaced Gaza City resident Emaan al-Wahidi, whose young son was lost his life by an Israeli air strike earlier, shared.

"My family are terrified of the attacks. During nighttime we are sleeping together, clinging, especially my little child who puts his face on me throughout the night."

"Constantly we check the reports to see what happened. And I'm concerned that this truce will not be achieved and that the war will resume to us."

Humanitarian Situation

The medical facility in Gaza City reported it had taken in the corpses of several people by the midday, including a trio who lost their lives in an Israeli attack in the south part al-Sabra neighbourhood.

A different healthcare center in the southern urban center of that area indicated another two dead people had been brought there. An individual was died by Israeli soldiers while looking for aid to the south, medics reported.

The region's health ministry reported a significant number of the {territ
