Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete
The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the league office.
The team omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.
Claims Shared on Social Media
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, shared a series of photos on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.
Official Complaints Currently Not on File
No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.
Rice's Recent Legal Issues
Rice was absent for the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people injured. He was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.
Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
