Outrage as Beloved South African DJ Gunned Down in Johannesburg.
A renowned South African radio and club DJ has been fatally gunned down in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a country battling entrenched crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was gunned down in the central business district on the afternoon of Tuesday.
Officials stated the 40-year-old media personality was accosted by three individuals, one of whom shot at him before fleeing on foot.
The reason behind the attack has not been established and no arrests are in custody, as per the official statement.
The Fatal Incident
Authorities said that Stock was attacked as he was departing from a location in the vicinity of the Carlton Centre.
He had been present for hours at the property overseeing the installation of safety equipment, which had been illegally inhabited by squatters, it was reported.
"It is alleged the man was confronted by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they opened fire at him before running from the location on foot," authorities said.
Security camera video reportedly depicted a man with dreadlocked hair and wearing what appeared to be a security uniform firing shots on Stock before running away.
The DJ sought to escape after he was wounded but fell down a short distance away.
Police added that Stock had an weapon on his person and nothing was taken during the incident.
Crucial forensic evidence, like spent shells, were recovered from the scene.

Authorities have requested anyone who saw the event who may have seen the suspects to contact them.
"We know they walked a long distance after the shooting, and officers have been attempting to locate them to establish their destination," added an official.

"I am in shock. I cannot express the pain," she stated.
