Tottenham Manager Frank Calls Vicario Critics 'Not True Genuine Supporters'

The Cottagers Start Strong to Beat Tottenham and Increase Pressure on the Manager

Spurs fans who booed keeper Vicario were informed later "those individuals can't be true Spurs fans" by boss Thomas Frank.

Spurs conceded two goals in the first six minutes to fall 2-1 to their opponents, registering their tenth Premier League at home defeat of 2025.

But the primary topic of discussion was the visitors' next goal when the keeper gave away the ball far outside his box.

The goalkeeper ventured out to deal with a high pass and carried the ball near the sideline.

However, instead of kicking it out of play, the Italian turned and tried to clear, but lost his footing as the ball skimmed off Harry Wilson and was collected by King.

The forward laid the ball off to Welsh midfielder Harry Wilson, who bent a strike into the goal from the touchline recorded at thirty-six point six metres.

Seconds afterwards when the ball went to the keeper again, a number of Spurs supporters jeered him.

The team were jeered off at the interval, with the side 2-0 down, and once more at full-time.

A particular of those jeering episodes truly angered the manager.

"I heard a few of our supporters reportedly booed the situation and booed after, which, in my opinion is completely unjustifiable," the Dane commented about the fans' response to his goalkeeper.

"Those individuals cannot be true Spurs supporters that do that. Alright booing following the match, fine, but when we are in play, we are supporting one another, we are behind one another moving ahead."

Tete had handed Fulham a fourth-minute lead prior to Wilson's goal – with Kudus scoring for Tottenham in an improved second-half showing.

Former Premier League goalkeeper Hart stated that the second goal was "totally avoidable".

"I certainly understand the supporters' disappointment," the ex-keeper continued. "I know the part Vicario is playing. He is a excellent squad member, he is a real leader in the dressing room but in the end you are going to be assessed by your actions.

"He was deeply involved in what ended up to be the decisive score."

'It is In the Game, I Can Handle It'

Thomas Frank Stood Up For His Goalkeeper Vicario Following the Game

Italian national team the keeper is in his third campaign with Tottenham.

The 29-year-old stated after the game that he had to take the feedback.

"That goal was a error of mine, I take accountability for it," he said.

"My aim was to clear the ball long and I simply struck the ball in a poor way. It was an more difficult challenge to climb."

He said receiving jeers "comes with the game".

"I'm a big man, how can I respond?" he added. "We can't be influenced by the situation in the stands. Supporters have the entitlement to do what they think.

"It's on the team to remain increasingly calm, to focus on our own performance. We are missing in composure and poise to reverse outcomes. This match is a poor loss and it is tough to take."

'It Shocked Me Nobody Went Back to the Line'

In spite of Vicario's mistake, it was far from an easy score for Wilson to score.

Actually it was the next most distant top division goal of the campaign – following Adams' forty-three point three yard strike for Bournemouth against the Black Cats, which incidentally also occurred on the same day.

The goalscorer said he was "somewhat surprised" that he still had an open goal to target.

10 moments elapsed between the keeper coming out of his box and Wilson striking – which was five moments after the clearance.

"It seemed to me like the keeper was out of the area for ages," Wilson said.

"I was surprised none of the back four returned to the goal line. When not one of them covered the net, my interest lit up a bit.

"[Destiny] Udogie fell too, which allowed me a little additional time. Then it was all about trying to make the right connection and place it towards goal. I had a positive feeling, as soon as it left my foot, that it was on the right line."

'When You're in a Bad Spell, Everything Appears to Go Against You'

Jeering Whilst We Are Still Playing Is Completely Unjustifiable - Frank

Although Vicario's mistake led headlines, this was an all-round poor performance for Tottenham to continue their home woes.

The match was their 10th home loss of the year in the league, a shared club statistic matching 1994 and 2003.

The side still have home fixtures against Frank's old side the Bees and champions Liverpool to play prior to the end of the season.

Only one of those wins have occurred after Frank replaced Ange Postecoglou in the summer.

"When you're behind 2-0 following six minutes, there is a huge challenge to climb," stated the boss.

"During in a bad spell, all aspects appears to go against you too – the opening was a deflected attempt, the second is a error from the keeper.

"This result leaves us in a position where we have lost an additional game. Every game has a single narrative, this game we lost in the first six minutes.

"We just need to keep working. The second half was much better and with luck an aspect we can use to learn."

Spurs have been defeated in 4 straight at home London derbies for the initial time in the top division.

Furthermore they are recording 9.5 shots and three point two shots on target per match in the Premier League – their poorest rates on file in a one season (dating back to 2003-04).

Ex- Cottagers midfield player Danny Murphy commented that Frank has to ride the storm.

"He must accept the criticism," the pundit remarked. "He's accepted a prestigious role at a major football club with enormous expectation. There is scrutiny and duty that accompanies that.

"The performances at their stadium have been poor and they have to get better {quickly|
